I Love the Atonement...

August 17, 2015

Hi ya'll!:D

Not a lot happened this week but it still was a awesome week, me and Sister Elms have exchanges with the Diamondhead STLs tonight and we just remembered, they texted us and asked if we were excited for tonight. And were said what's tonight?  So tomorrow I get to take over the area for a day, yay lol I'll be fine though I've done exchanges in Picayune before so I'm used to it.

Yesterday we had dinner with one of the members and she can't hear, so when me and Sister Elms shared a spiritual thought Sister Elms had to turn what I was saying into sign language. It was really cool and the member seemed to understand. Sister Elms is trying to teach me sign language. So far I know several colors and a couple of letters. (and some other random stuff)  I know a couple of insults too and for some reason I have a easier time remembering the insults lol Things like weird, dumb, and stupid.

A couple of days ago when we were knocking doors we met this guy named Glen and we taught him the Restoration he really liked it and he accepted a Book Of Mormon. He said a couple of things about losing loved ones and not understanding why they died or where they go. I told him that we had several messages we shared with people and one of them talked about where we were before this life, why were here, and were our loved ones go after this life. I told him that this message can and will answer some of his questions and that it has brought me joy and peace in my own life. I also said this message helped me know who we all truly are and just how much God loves us. We said we would love to come back and share that message with him if that would be ok with him and he said yes. Me and Sister Elms are excited to see him again and hope it will go well when we see him on Saturday.

We saw Jean last Saturday and it was a really good lesson. We taught her the Gospel of Jesus Christ and she loved it! When we got there she told us that she read something wonderful from the book we gave her. Me and Sister Elms gave a big print version of the Book Of Mormon, D&C, and The Pearl Of Great Price. She absolutely loves the Book Of Mormon and today she told us that everyone needs to know about this, about what she was learning. I told her that I wasn't sure if she remembered us telling her about the Plan Of Salvation and the spirit world. But I told her about how everyone has a chance to learn about the gospel and how there are missionaries in the spirit world teaching people right now. Jean told us that her dad had never gone to church and that he didn't know God or Jesus. She said "So your saying that my dad still has a chance to learn about this?" We told her that all of her family still had a chance even those who had passed on and Jean started crying. She was so overwhelmed and she kept saying several times how wonderful and amazing that was. She put her had on her heart couple times, and it was amazing to see how much that touched her. We told her that once she gets baptized she can go to the temple and get baptized for her family. And she can help them accept the gospel. Jean loves the temple! She's seen a picture of the Salt Lake Temple several times and every time she sees it she gets excited. We know so much, our church knows so much and it's the best feeling in world when we tell people about these simple truths and to see their faces light up and see the Holy Ghost touch their hearts. I don't know how people go through their lives without knowing all the answers to these questions. But that's why were here serving missions, to teach people and help the feel the joy we feel. To bring them eternal and wonderful truths and help build God's kingdom on earth. Because of this gospel we know who were truly are and why were here. Because of the Plan Of Salvation we know that we will see our loved ones again. Because of the gospel we have truths that we need and that bring us eternal joy and peace. Because of the Atonement we can not only ask forgiveness for our sins but we can change. Our nature can change and we really can became like our Savior. Through the Atonement we can return with our Heavenly Father and we can completely heal from mistakes we all make. I love the Atonement and I know it's something I need everyday. Not just once a week but everyday, growing and changing is essential to God's plan. And if we don't change and turn away from sin we can't become like our Father in Heaven. I'm so grateful for the Priesthood. Without it I wouldn't be able to be sealed to my family for eternity. But because we do have it I won't ever have to imagine my live without ya'll. Sorry ya'll, your stuck with me forever lol:D I'm so grateful for parents that taught me the importance of living the gospel and keeping the commandments. I'm so grateful for the scriptures, that help me when I am discouraged. I know that we need to read and study them every single day if we want to root our selves in the Gospel. Along with that, we need to pray consistently and fervently I know that now is the time to prepare to meet God, and if we don't use his time to become like him and closer to him than we better start now. I LOVE Alma 48! And the theme of that chapter spiritual preparation. I know that we need to be living the gospel and that it is the only thing anchoring us through our lives. I know that Joseph Smith truly was a prophet of God and that he did translate the Book Of Mormon. I know the gospel is true and I wouldn't trade the knowledge I have for anything in the world! Thanks mom and dad for being the best parents ever teaching me the way to true and lasting happiness is living the gospel!:D Even though a simple thank doesn't even begin to cover how you and Dad have done for me:D Hope your having the best day ever!!!!!:D #GodIsGood

Hi everyone!:D

I don't have much to tell ya'll but I do have a few funny stories. Last week when we were knocking doors five little black boys started talking to us while we going down the street. They asked us for cards that they could hand out, so we gave each of them a stack of Mormon cards. One of the kids stood really close to me and said "See these six cards, if I hand all of them out will you go on a date with me?" Sister Elms was like yea yea she'll go on a date with you! So all the kids took off and we could hear them across the neighborhood handing cards out to everyone lol Literally five minutes after we gave them the cards one of the boys came around the corner on his bike with his hands in the air and yelling they're gone! He had a big smile on his face and then asked me when I wanted to go out. A few minutes later the rest of the kids finished and they asked if we had any more cards. They cleaned us out! The boys were hilarious. The little kid who wanted to go out called me his girlfriend and Sister Elms has a boyfriend too.  Me and Sister Elms are no longer single lol :D They stopped by us four times as we were knocking doors and sometimes they tried to talk to us while we were talking to someone.

A couple of days ago we were knocking doors in a black ghetto and this really nice lady let us in. We started teaching the Restoration, and towards the end there was a knock on the door. Betty ( The lady we were talking to) answered the door and we heard someone say "Are you studying the Restoration?!" "Are there missionaries here?" Betty was holding a pamphlet when she answered the door. We had no idea who this person was we couldn't even see who it was when she answered the door. After this guy asked if there were missionaries here he look around the corner past the door and saw us. He was like "Hi Sisters!" (completely stranger, had no idea who he was) This young man was there to install her TV and he asked us if he was interrupting the lesson. We told him he wasn't and that he was welcome to join. Betty asked him if he knew us and he said he was familiar with the church. We continued with the lesson and talked about the Book Of Mormon and me and Sister Elms bore our testimonies on it. Nick (The young man) also added his testimony and said that he was actually a member and had served a mission in Guatamala. One of the things he said was that the book will change your life and what the sisters have taught you will only get better from here. Before he told us he was a RM, me and Sister Elms were thinking he had to be a RM, because the things he said were totally things that a missionary would say. Towards the very end we told her we would love to came back and share with her more about our teachings. Nick was like " So when are you coming back?" Me and Sister Elms both turned to Betty when can we come back? We're seeing her next Thursday and we gave her a Book Of Mormon. Nick was a big help and I'm not sure if we would have gotten a return appointment if he hadn't been there. It was awesome and it just shows how Heavenly Father helps us, and how he is aware of our every need and concern. He's timing really is perfect and it was really cool experience. What are the chances that a RM would just happen to knock on that door while we were there teaching a Restoration lesson:D #OurGodIsAnAwesomeGod:D

Those are the only stories I have but i'll have more for ya'll next week:D Hope ya'll are having the greatest day ever!!:D #GospelsTrue!

It's Just So Awesome!

August 6, 2015

Hi everyone!!:D

Good news, I"M STAYING IN PICAYUNE!!:D I'm so happy!😁 Sister Elms stayed too so were still companions! She's stuck with me for another 6 weeks lol Last week was Zone Conference and that's always in Gulfport, which is right by the ocean:D Zone Conference was fun but its pretty much like p-day but it's on Tuesday. We mainly hang out with missionaries and play sports/ email. It was a fun day and when it was time to go home we almost went to the beach just so I could get pictures but apparently there's a flesh eating bacteria down there right now so I'll have to get pictures next time we have Zone Conference.

We saw Jean a couple of weeks ago and I almost forgot to tell ya'll how it went. The lesson went great and it was probably one of the most powerful experiences I've had so far. When we were planning what to teach Jean that morning we felt prompted to read from the Book Of Mormon with her. That afternoon we went and saw her. We said a opening prayer and one of the things she said to us is that when we let us in she could feel that there was something different about us. She said that while she was talking to us she felt different and that she wanted what we had. She said that she could see joy, peace and happiness in our faces. We asked Jean where we wanted to start reading in the Book Of Mormon she said that she wanted to start in the beginning. So we started at the testimonies in the very beginning. Jean told us that she couldn't see very well and she needed glasses to read but she would try anyway. She started reading and Jean didn't seem to have trouble at all. The whole time we were talking to her the Spirit was present and very strong. Me and Sister Elms witnessed a couple of miracles with Jean, it truly was a powerful and unforgettable experience. Jean has very bad sight yet she was reading without problems. She read the testimony of the three witnesses and the eight witnesses and both she thought were beautiful. I could see in her face that she was understanding and was loving everything she was reading so far. She started reading the testimony of Joseph Smith and when she got to the 6th paragraph she started crying. She said "Ya'll must think I'm crazy" Of course, we said no and she said "Its just so awesome" Jean felt the Holy Ghost so strongly that for a minute or two she was too emotional to continue reading. She put her hand on her heart a couple of times and it was amazing to see how the Holy Ghost touched her heart. What was really awesome was the fact that she could understand. If I wasn't raised in church someone had me read Joseph Smith testimony for the first time I would be confused. Jean didn't seem confused at all and I know that Holy Ghost played a part in that. After we finished reading, we asked Jean how she felt. She said that she felt good and that she knew it was true. Jean also said that felt like she was being enlightened and told truths. Sister Elms read from Alma 32:28 and asked Jean if that was what she was feeling. Jean said yes, and had a big smile on her face. We than asked Jean if she would be baptized and she said yes. One of the other things she said was that she's felt like she known us her whole life. I told her that we have know each other our whole lives and even before we came to this earth. I told her I knew God send us to her at this time in her life and that this was her chance to be a part of God's kingdom on earth. Me and Sister Elms both bore out testimonies, and I know Jean was touched by our testimonies.

Love ya'll and have a awesome day!:)
