I'm Getting Transferred!

April 10, 2016

Hi Ya'll!

I have some news...I'm getting transferred! I'm going to somewhere in the Shreveport, Louisiana! Leaving areas is the worst, I love the members and my investigators, and my comp. But I'm so grateful that I had a chance to serve here and meet some incredible people. Apparently, Heavenly Father needs me somewhere in Shreveport :D

A few days ago when we were tracting we met this really cute older lady named Janice. We started talking to her and somehow we got on the topic of art. She told us that she loves art and then invited us into her house so we could see it. Janice is a super creative lady, she had stuff made out of clay and some of her paintings were really good.  After that we went back outside and we started talking more about God and scriptures and staying on the right path. We had actually found Janice's teaching record a few days earlier and according to the record, she's be taught at least the Restoration. We asked her if she wanted a Book Of Mormon and instead of saying no or being a little hesitant she said she already has one and reads from it often. She also said that she believes it to be the word of God. Me and Sister Mellor were both surprised because most of the a good portion of the time people aren't the most accepting about the Book Of Mormon. We set a return appointment and we're planning on seeing her today at 5.  Keep us in your prayers!:D

Ok so I would tell ya'll some of the things I learned in General Conference but I don't have my notes with me so......I might have just to tell ya'll in letters :D Yesterday I was reading a talk in the Ensign and it was about studying General Conference talks. This lady talked about how much of a difference it made when she really studied and internalized what the apostles and our prophet were saying. She said it completely changed how much she got of it, and how it was they most wonderful General Conference. So that's something I've been trying to do the last few days not just read the Ensign but ponder and study the talks. She also talked about preparing for Conference by studying talks in the past. Mom, I would beyond LOVE to watch General Conference in person!!!! That would be the most amazing thing ever! I think I'm doing to watch General Conference at the church building from now on because I get way more out of it!!:D

Anyways I got to go but love ya'll and have a wonderful day! Also tell Indie happy birthday for me!:D

General Conference was SO GOOD!!!!!!!

April 4, 2016

Hi Ya'll!:D

So this week was a very interesting week, mostly because Thursday there was a tornado warning. Luckily, we were in Mendenhall that day, so we were safe inside their house. I love storms! As long as I'm far enough away that I won't get hurt:D That's why in one of these pics we are in the Cothern kids' hallway.  It's one of the safest places in their house. The storm didn't last a long time, but it started out pretty severe.  It was really sad, though, because we had someone we were planning on going and seeing after dinner, but it stormed the rest of the night so we couldn't go and see our investigator. But we are planning on seeing them next week, and hopefully they will understand and not be mad we didn't go last week.

So Wednesday we met this really nice guy named Chris at Ramey's, which is a little grocery store. Something me and Sister Mellor are trying to work on is talking to everyone, and on Wednesday nights Sister Cothern picks us up, she normally get us at 8:00.  It was about 7:30 and me and Sister Mellor were trying to decide what to do. We couldn't go too far because we didn't have the car, and by the time we walk or biked to one of our investigator's house we would only be able to stay for 5-10 minutes and then head back. We prayed and asked for direction on what we should do with the 20 -25 minutes we had left. We ended up deciding on going to Ramey's and trying to talk to everyone there, and that's how we met Chris.  He was looking at fruit, and we just started talking to him. We talked for a few minutes about what he was going to buy and then introduced who we were. We asked him questions and found out that he was a minister at his church, he was a really nice guy. We asked if he would like to learn more about the restored gospel and Chris was very open. He said he would love to learn more and asked for our number. We gave ours and we got his as well. He doesn't live in Florence, but he said he 's in Florence almost everyday because he works here. We told him we would give him a call and set up a time to meet in Florence. I'll keep ya'll updated on how everything goes:D

Last Tuesday we also had the opportunity to do service at a food pantry and it was so fun! It was lot of sorting and organizing which ya'll know are not my some of my strengths lol We were there for 4 hours.  I wish more people asked us to do service; we'll literally do anything.

Last thing, then I have to go. One of our investigators in Mendenhall totally stood up for us! We gave her a chapter to read that day from the Book Of Mormon she read it that day. She called us that night and said that her aunt was trying to tell her that we don't believe in the same Jesus Christ and other untrue stuff, and she and her mom defended us. I love Ashley! and her mom:D

General Conference was SO GOOD!!!!!!! I love being spiritually fed! I like to call General Conference "Spiritual Christmas" :D I'll tell more next week about my favorite talks and what I learned.....It's going to be a long, long email! I'm never not paying attention to General Conference again!:D Love ya'll! 33 days till Mother's Day!:D
